If you like outdoor shuffleboard, you’ll like this pint-sized but well-made version. Our entire family enjoys playing Shuffleshot—it requires no special skills other than perfecting finger aim. It can be played one-on-one or as teams. Each side takes turns shooting their respective colored disks toward the center circle. It’s fun to try to knock out the opponent’s strategically placed disks, especially with a little help from the board’s wooden pegs or the side walls. Any disks that go beyond the center zone and touch the starting line on the opposite side are considered out of the game. We weren’t sure about correct scoring (Brio is very vague), so we made up our own—the three closest disks to the center circle get one point apiece, and the first player to ten wins the game. The disks can be stored underneath the board when not in use, so it is entirely self-contained.

As enjoyable as this game is, the cost is rather steep (currently $85), especially considering it’s mainly plastic (only the playing board top is European beech wood). One of the reasons I ordered Shuffleshot is because Brio is known for quality construction. This is a durable game, but doesn’t seem as solidly built as some of the other Brio sets we own (like their labyrinth and pinball games, which by the way, cost less). Regardless, this is still a classic, fun game that can be passed down through generations.

This Brio Shuffleshot is another durable and well-designed toy that the “Brio” brand is known for. It brings a tabletop version of this popular and classic game that children and adults will enjoy playing. The pieces are minimal and the concept of the gameplay is simple, so storage and use are not an issue. The design of the gameboard includes four stable legs to give some height and leverage to the wrist movements required for a strategic roll.

In the original, larger-sized version that this toy has been made to imitate, you typically use heavy rocks that you slide on a salted table. This has been recreated for a tabletop version with the smaller metal ball pieces within a plastic ring. Although the miniature rocks are harder to “slide”, the board is much less of a mess and does not require any setup beyond placing the rock-like pieces. The mini pieces do not require an up or down position for use; its design allows for the ball to always be at the bottom position due to gravity. The design makes for this simple and yet very enjoyable family game to be frustration free and easy to understand.

If you are looking for a family game that all ages (six and up) can enjoy together and that encourages simple strategy and practice, I would definitely recommend this set. It is durable, classic and well designed. It has a vintage-like charm and a great gameplay.

My kids range from 16 to 4 years old and all three are loving this game, as well as my wife and I both. This is truly a game for all ages. Even my 4 year old understands the simple rules and can handle the pucks and take good shots to the bulls eye. This game arrived a few days ago and has been played all hours of the day. It lives in the middle of our dining table and is played during my meals. Photo has my daughters having breakfast while playing.

This is a fun game with a “just right challenge” –not to hard or too easy. I wanted this game to play with my 9 year old, she is competitive and is aging out of a lot of games her younger siblings are playing. The board and pieces are well made and well weighted. It is the quality I was hoping for from a well known toy maker like BRIO who originates in Sweden but is made in China.
I like how it comes fully assembled and the game pieces store within the board.
This game is really simple but the instructions are OVERLY simple . I don’t really understand how I am supposed to score the game. I am going to look up to see if the youtube video makes this more clear to me. I kind of want to take off the star for the directions but I’m still worried i’m being daft.

UPDATE: looked up the brio website and found this essential fact,
“When all discs are shot, the player with the most discs closest to the centre wins!”
That helps a lot, but does the player who is in the middle itself automatically win?? I just need more DETAILS!
Anyhow, we decided on our own scoring and we absolutely love the game. It’s well made and fun to play for rounds and rounds.

It was extremely hot this weekend so the family was looking for things to do with the kids indoors (in the air conditioning). One of the most popular games was this Brio Shuffleshot! As a kid I used to play regular shuffleboard but my kids had never heard of it. This game was a good intro into the concepts of a shuffleboard game.
The game board itself is not too big or bulky, it’s easy to setup on a coffee table or floor, and the game itself is good for kids of all ages (under 3y/o might be a challenge due to some small pieces).
Well designed and fun to play! 5-entertaining-stars!
